As important to the Foundation’s integration in village life as the provision of clean water or a clinic, is our interaction and dialogue with villagers and the chairman.  Our support for the welfare of the community in general and more specifically for social activities and traditional crafts and practices is crucial for staying relevant in our fast evolving world.

We support the making of traditional baskets (echitiri in local Kikonjo language) and clay pot-making in the region as they become rarer and are steadily replaced by the indestructible imported plastic equivalent.

Currently we are building a multipurpose centre at the heart of the village which will shortly be functional. This will provide a space to act as a focal point for social recreation and educational activities aimed at mentoring younger members of the community.

As a byproduct of our forest management, we stack firewood at a central point on Foundation grounds for collection by village residents.
