Each an eminent biologist in their own field of expertise, Carl and Paula spent a two-week residency surveying rodent and bat populations on the re-wilded land of the Foundation.

Live trapping and mist netting enabled close up study and measurements before the animals were released. Analysis of pellets from Spotted Eagle Owls and Barn Owls provided a major contribution to the records as many of the rodent species could be identified from their skulls.

Carl and Paula put in place the process for assessing the success or otherwise of our rewilding program. Botany, biology, ecology and ethology recording techniques as well as conservation measures were all shared with the team to help foster further study.
